At Home Euthanasia

Compassionate at home pet euthanasia for dogs and cats, offering comfort, privacy, and dignity during a difficult time.

Services-home-story

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest decisions any owner will ever make. Choosing to say goodbye at home can offer your pet a peaceful and familiar environment, surrounded by the people they love. At Timvet, we understand how emotional and overwhelming this time can be, and we are here to help guide you through it with kindness, patience, and respect.

Our in-home euthanasia service is available throughout Addlestone, London, and the South of England, allowing your dog or cat to stay calm and comfortable in a place they know and trust.

There is no need for a stressful journey or a clinical setting just quiet, dignified care delivered in the comfort of your own home.

Why Choose Home Euthanasia?

  • Familiar surroundings reduce stress — Being at home helps your pet feel safe and calm, avoiding the anxiety often associated with a visit to a clinic.

  • Dignified, gentle care — Our experienced vet will handle every step with sensitivity, ensuring your pet’s final moments are as peaceful and loving as possible.

  • Time for goodbye on your terms — You and your family have the space and time to say farewell in a calm environment, without rush or pressure.

  • Simple, compassionate aftercare options — We can help arrange cremation or allow you time to make your own arrangements, whatever feels right for you and your pet.

How It Works

1. Contact us or book an appointment
Reach out via phone or our online booking form to let us know your pet’s details and your preferred timing. We’ll work with you to schedule a visit as soon as possible.

2. At-home euthanasia
Our vet will come to your home to perform the procedure in a calm, familiar environment. We aim to make the experience peaceful and stress-free, guiding you through each step and giving you time with your pet after.

3. Aftercare and support
You can choose how you wish to proceed — from private cremation (with or without ashes returned), to burial or taking time to decide later. We can help coordinate cremation or leave your pet in your care, depending on your wishes.

When is the right time?

Deciding when to say goodbye is deeply personal, but there are some common signs that may help you recognise when your pet’s quality of life is declining:

  • Your pet no longer enjoys activities they once loved.

  • They seem to be in constant pain, distress, or discomfort.

  • They struggle with basic needs — eating, drinking, toileting, mobility.

  • Their condition causes more suffering than moments of comfort.

As veterinarians, we’ve often seen families express regret at waiting too long, rather than too soon. We’re here to talk you through your pet’s condition compassionately and help you make the decision with care and empathy.

What does our at home euthanasia service include?

Each visit includes a full consultation and gentle sedation to help your pet relax and feel at ease before the final step.

We take our time and work at your pace, ensuring that you and your pet are never rushed. When the time is right, we will carry out the euthanasia with compassion and sensitivity, always prioritising your pet’s comfort.

Aftercare can be arranged based on your wishes, whether that is a communal cremation or a private individual service. We are here to support you throughout the entire process and beyond, providing reassurance, guidance, and understanding during one of life’s most difficult moments.

It can be incredibly hard to know when the right moment has arrived. Common signs include chronic pain, difficulty moving, not eating or drinking, confusion, breathing difficulties, and loss of enjoyment in daily life. If you’re unsure, we can assess your pet and help you make the decision with empathy and honesty.

No. Your pet is given a gentle sedative first, helping them drift into a relaxed, sleepy state. The final injection is painless and simply allows them to pass peacefully.

Yes. We offer calm, compassionate at-home euthanasia, allowing your pet to remain in the comfort of familiar surroundings. Many pets are more relaxed at home, making their final moments more peaceful.

Most appointments last around 30–45 minutes. We will never rush you — you’ll have as much time as you need before, during, and after the procedure.

Absolutely. Most owners choose to be with their pet, speaking to them and comforting them in their final moments. But if it’s too difficult for you, that’s okay too — we will care for your pet with the same compassion you would.

Emergency home consultations are only available when the clients day practice is shut.

We encourage clients to remain with their local practice following emergency consultations. On some occasions, more critical cases will need to be reffered to the local hospitals for further examinations at extra cost.
